Maha Kumbh Mela Photo Story
The Maha Kumbh Mela is a Hindu celebration held every 144 years in Prayagraj, North India, where the rivers Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati meet. Seven planets become visible in a particular conformation, drawing millions of pilgrims to these shores to take a holy dip, free themselves from sins and celebrate their gods, generating a spectacular confluence of faith, devotion and tradition.
Over the course of 45 days in January and February 2025, over 660 million people attended the latest ‘Mahakumbh’, making it the largest human gathering in history.
Headlines focused on mind-blowing numbers and key highlights, often losing track of the individual stories that made the event possible. I dedicated my time there to document intimate moments of devotion, daily faith, and spirituality emerging from the masses.
